Jane Rosen offers two-day intensive drawing workshops located on a 40-acre ranch two miles from the San Gregorio State Beach.
Instruction is based on the courses she has taught for over 20 years at schools such as the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, the School of Visual Arts in New York and Bard College.
Through her extensive experience working with students, Rosen has developed a teaching method which allows a person with little or no training to learn to draw.
In its striking simplicity a drapery, a cliff and the human form each become a vehicle for introducing drawing techniques used in both Zen painting and Renaissance drawing.
St. Francis of Assisi said "He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands, his head and his heart is an artist." The drawing workshop offers techniques which demand a quality of attention which enlists the support of the hands, the head and the heart.
